FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS

Scorpio Screens & Blinds was founded in 1980 by Cameron and Glenis Wood, and the company has grown considerably during that time. To this day Cameron and Glenis are still involved in the company along with their sons. So when you do business with Scorpio Screens & Blinds – you do business with a 2 generation family business. We pride ourselves on the local community and local businesses.

Scorpio Screens and Blinds were fabulous from the Get – Go, first I dealt with Debbie, then Shari who measured up & quoted, then the 2 fabulous men who installed my Screens, Brett and Mark.
I am totally happy with the Company overall, and would and will highly recommend to anyone. Fabulous sturdy product also.

5 Stars to you all. Well Done.

Frequently Asked Questions About our Gold Coast Pivot Arm Awnings

How do Pivot Arm Awnings work?
They are fitted externally around a window frame and consist of a retractable blind made from canvas, acrylic canvas or mesh fabric. This attaches to a frame with arms that pivot half-way down the window. They are suitable for windows that face any direction and the way they work is rather ingenious.
Do you need planning permission for an awning?

In most cases, residential awnings will not require planning permission, however, there are always exceptions.

In these cases, where the council or a strata has a duty to preserve the original look of a home or area, extra planning permission may be required for a new awning.

How much wind can a Retractable Awning withstand?

Awnings can withstand mild weather however you should always retract awnings on windy days. Awnings have been tested in wind-tunnel tests that have shown they can withstand wind forces of over 50 miles per hour however it is best to stay on the side of caution and retract the awnings at the sign of extreme weather.

How long do awnings last?

Canvas is the most popular material for awnings and typically lasts for about 8 to 10 years when maintained properly. Vinyl is less resilient, so the lifespan of this material is shorter at about 5 to 7 years. Acrylic is a more durable woven fabric. This reliable option can last about 8 to 12 years.

Ask our experienced staff for advice if unsure what fabric would suit your home.
